Today was my first time ice skating in about 15 years, and my first time ever on natural ice. We went up to Warmond, a small town about 20 minutes or so from Den Haag, and went skating on Kager Plassen (the Kaag Lakes). Apparently this is the first time in many years that it's been cold enough in the Netherlands for the water to freeze. Max, Floppy, and Thommy had never been ice skating ever, if that gives you any indication.

Volkert, Karin and I did a pretty big lap around the lakes, and by the time we were finished, my ankles kept buckling and my feet were tingling with pain. But it was worth every minute. This really is the true Dutch experience.
